MUTTENZ, Switzerland (AP) -- Specialty chemicals company Clariant AG said Thursday it is cutting about 570 jobs and closing factories in France, Britain and Mexico.
Clariant said the job cuts would "further optimize its global production network in order to address overcapacities and to reduce costs."
It said production sites in Huningue, France; Pontypridd, Britain; and Cuernavaca, Mexico, have been marked for closure.
Parts of two plants in Germany will also be shut, and the company is evaluating the future of its site in Onsan, South Korea.
Clariant has already cut 2,000 jobs this year following a sharp decline in demand for its products in the textile, leather, automotive and construction industries.
