Michigan Auto Suppliers Getting Tax Credits

State economic development board is approving tax breaks for several projects, including auto suppliers, aimed at bringing new jobs to Michigan.

LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- A state economic development board is approving tax breaks for several projects aimed at bringing new jobs to Michigan.

The credits expected to be approved Tuesday are related to projects including Strategic Staffing Solutions in Detroit, Ohio Module Manufacturing in Detroit and Auto-Owners Insurance Group in Delta Township near Lansing.

General tax incentives also are getting approved for companies that already have been OK'd for battery tax credits, including Johnson Controls-Saft Advanced Power Solutions in Holland.

The Michigan Economic Growth Authority Growth was expected to approve credits for seven companies and three brownfield redevelopment projects.

Gov. Jennifer Granholm was expected to hold a press conference about the projects later Tuesday.
