ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- A familiar landmark on the Rochester skyline will be glowing again for the first time in 40 years.

The new owners of the Genesee (jehn-uh-SEE') beer brand plan to turn on the lights in the Genesee Beer & Ale sign on top of the company's brewery Friday night.

North American Breweries bought the brewery earlier this year and had the 28-foot-long sign repaired.

City and Monroe County leaders plan to attend the lighting of the sign, which company officials say is a symbol of their commitment to Rochester.

High Falls Brewing Co. was bought in February by an arm of KPS Capital Partners, a New York City-based private equity firm.

The company has said it will spend millions to upgrade the brewery, whose origins in Rochester date to 1857.

It employs about 375 people.
