FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky officials are looking to enrich the state's bid for a share of federal stimulus money to fund a high-tech car battery plant.
House Majority Leader Rocky Adkins told the Lexington Herald-Leader for Friday's paper that officials are reviewing the state's energy policy to offer additional tax breaks to its bid. Adkins says tax incentives may show federal officials the state is "very, very serious" about getting the plant.
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear announced on Monday the state was working with a nonprofit industry group to build a high-tech lithium-ion car battery plant in Kentucky. The state is applying next month for a share of $2 billion in federal stimulus money to help fund the $600 million complex.
