French Poll: Workers Support Snatching Bosses

CSA agency says its poll shows 45 percent of French workers believe seizing the boss is ‘acceptable’ during protests over layoffs or other company action.

PARIS (AP) -- A new poll indicates many in France support the recent tactic by workers of seizing their bosses amid labor protests.

The CSA agency says its poll shows 45 percent of French believe sequestering the boss is "acceptable" during protests over layoffs or other company action.

The poll says people aged 40-49 were most sympathetic to "sequestrations" as they have been called in France since workers at plants belonging to Sony, Continental and 3M seized their bosses for one or two days over the past month.

CSA says half of 1,012 people surveyed April 1-2 disapproved of the practice.

The poll was conducted nationally using the quota method and was published in Tuesday's edition of the Le Parisien newspaper.
