Force Protection Wins UK Vehicle Order

Joint venture that includes Force Protection Inc. has won a $122.6 million contract for heavy tactical support vehicles for Britain's Defense Ministry.

LADSON, S.C. (AP) -- A joint venture that includes Force Protection Inc. has won a $122.6 million contract for heavy tactical support vehicles for Britain's Defense Ministry.

The order for 97 Wolfhound support vehicles, including spares and support, was made to Integrated Survivability Technologies Limited, a joint venture between South Carolina'a Force Protection and NP AerospaceNP Aerospace Limited, a subsidiary of the Morgan Crucible Co. Ltd.

The joint venture is intended to provide single contact and design in England for Force Protection business, which includes new projects, fleet upgrades and logistics support.

The Wolfhound award is the first direct sale to an overseas government of a Force Protection product, the two companies said. Force Protection product orders for governments outside the United States were previously awarded through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program, the companies said.

Force Protection supplies mine resistant ambush protected vehicles to the British Defense Ministry.
