DETROIT (AP) -- Delphi Corp. has been awarded $2.4 million in federal stimulus money to develop and test fuel-cell technology.
The Troy-based company's award is part of nearly $42 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding for 13 fuel-cell projects nationwide.
Delphi plans to develop a fuel-cell auxiliary power unit for heavy-duty commercial trucks.
U.S. Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow announced Delphi's award Wednesday. They also said stimulus dollars will be allocated for two new research vessels in the Great Lakes.
They will replace nearly 50-year-old U.S. Geological Survey vessels on Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
Michigan's Gogebic-Iron County Airport learned Wednesday it's getting $200,000 in stimulus dollars.
