SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) -- Biotechnology company Genentech Inc. on Wednesday named Jennifer Doudna to the newly created position of vice president of discovery research.
Doudna will lead the departments of protein chemistry and structural biology. She will also be part of the drug discovery research leadership team, and work on RNA therapies. She was previously a professor in the molecular and cell biology and chemistry departments at University of California, Berkeley.
In afternoon trading, Genentech stock rose 43 cents to $82.53.
