Automaker says it will stop production for two weeks next month at its engine plant in northern Ohio and will lay off as many as 70 employees indefinitely at the factory.

LIMA, Ohio (AP) -- Ford Motor Co. says it will stop production for two weeks next month at its engine plant in northern Ohio.

The automaker also will lay off as many as 70 employees indefinitely at the factory in Lima.

Company spokeswoman Angie Kozleski says the moves are being made to match slowing consumer demand.

The Lima plant employs 730 people who make Duratech V6 and Vulcan V6 engines.

Ford expects to cut its salaried work force of 22,600 by 10 percent through personnel reductions and attrition.
