BAE Systems Gets $120M Air Force Contract

Defense contractor said Wednesday has received a $120 million contract to equip up to 400 U.S. Air Force ground vehicles with improved voice and data communications.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- BAE Systems said Wednesday has received a $120 million contract to equip up to 400 U.S. Air Force ground vehicles with improved voice and data communications.

The equipment will enable Air Force tactical air controllers to advise ground commanders and coordinate aircraft operations.

The contract has a potential value of up to $233 million.

The Vehicular Communications System will provide mobile voice and data communications for Air Force tactical air control to operate effectively in the battle space, BAE said.

The Air Force's Tactical Air Control Party Modernization program advise ground commanders and staff on aerospace power and help plan close-air-support operations using vehicle-mounted communications systems, radios and digital communications.

BAE Systems Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of London-based BAE Systems PLC.
