Ford: December Sales Up Over November

Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. says the company's December U.S. auto sales don't look too bad through the first two weeks of the month.

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. says the company's December U.S. auto sales don't look too bad through the first two weeks of the month.

Ford says the month is turning out "relatively well" compared with November. Ford sales were down 31 percent in November when compared with the same month last year.

Ford was speaking at an event in Dearborn to preview 2009 models.

Ford says if General Motors and Chrysler get the loans from Washington that they have requested to stay in business, it would help Ford by stabilizing parts supply companies.

The Bush administration is considering loans from the $700 billion Wall Street bailout fund for GM and Chrysler. Ford says it has enough money to make it through 2009.
