Chrysler Drops Chief Marketing Officer

Automaker says it is eliminating the job of chief marketing officer, with Deborah Meyer stepping down effective immediately.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) -- Chrysler LLC says it is eliminating the job of chief marketing officer, with Deborah Meyer stepping down effective immediately.

The automaker also says Chief Executive for Asia Philip F. Murtaugh will leave the company at the end of the month.

The announcements came Friday after the Bush administration said it would provide short-term financing to help stave off a bankruptcy in the U.S. auto industry.

Chrysler says both Meyer and Murtaugh are leaving to pursue other opportunities. The company says Executive Vice Presidents Steven J. Landry and Michael Manley will take on new marketing and product planning responsibilities.

Auburn Hills, Michigan-based Chrysler also says it is centralizing its Asia operations, and will continue to pursue opportunities there.
