HENNEPIN, Ill. (AP) -- Nearly 300 people will lose their jobs when the owner of a north-central Illinois steel plant closes the facility.
ArcelorMittal said Tuesday that it will close the plant it owns in Hennepin. The town is about 50 miles northwest of Bloomington.
The Luxembourg-based company says the plant duplicates work done at other plants. About 285 people work at the facility.
ArcelorMittal says it is in discussions about severance for workers who will lose their jobs.
It isn't clear when the plant will close.
