Whirlpool Cuts 170 Jobs In Ohio

Company is temporarily laying off about 170 workers at a plant that makes dishwashers in northwest Ohio due to falling demand.

FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) -- Whirlpool Corp. is laying off about 170 workers at a plant that makes dishwashers in northwest Ohio.

Whirlpool says the layoffs that begin Monday in Findlay will be temporary and reflect falling demand. Spokeswoman Jill Saletta said Friday that the company doesn't know when the workers will be recalled.

Earlier this week, Whirlpool announced it was cutting 250 jobs at its washing machine plant in Clyde, about 40 miles northeast of Findlay.
