SKD To Cut More Than 300 Jobs

Manager says executive at SKD Automotive Group confirmed that the company will not close a parts plant, despite SKD's decision to cut over 300 jobs at the factory.

JONESVILLE, Mich. (AP) -- The Jonesville village manager says an executive at SKD Automotive Group LP has confirmed to him that the company will not close its parts plant there, despite SKD's decision to trim more than 300 jobs at the factory around Jan. 10.

Adam Smith tells the Hillsdale Daily News that Vice President of Operations Jeff Daniel indicated the Hillsdale County plant about 60 miles west-northwest of Toledo, Ohio, won't be closed at this time.

Daniel declined to comment to the newspaper. A telephone message from The Associated Press was left Tuesday for him at the company's headquarters in Troy.

SKD informed the village about the pending layoffs in a letter that was received last week.
