Navistar To Reorganize

Commercial truck and engine maker to reorganize its truck segment into four business units and cut an unspecified number of jobs in an effort to make it more competitive.

WARRENVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Commercial truck and engine maker Navistar International Corp. said it plans to reorganize its truck segment into four business units and cut an unspecified number of jobs in an effort to make it more competitive around the world and strengthen its core North American operations.

Navistar said late Monday the segments will be North American Truck Operations, Global Truck Operations, Global Bus Operations and Navistar Defense. The appointment of executives related to the reorganization will take place over the next two months, the company said.

The changes will involve an undetermined number of job cuts as functions are consolidated and streamlined to align with market conditions, Navistar said.
