PARK HILLS, Mo. (AP) -- Piramal Glass in Park Hills says it is laying off 190 workers because of the troubled economy.
Human resources manager Scott Winder says due to slow business, the company plans to rebrick one of two furnaces in eastern Missouri while people are laid off. That's something the business normally does every seven to 10 years.
Winder says that way the business plans to be ready when the market rebounds.
Piramal hopes to be able to recall workers on Jan. 18. Piramal Glass is an India-based company that makes specialty, cosmetic and pharmaceutical glass.
