DuPont Sues Invista Over Resins

Chemical maker DuPont Co. says it has filed a lawsuit against Invista, claiming patent infringement and the misappropriation of trade secrets.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Chemical maker DuPont Co. says it has filed a lawsuit against Invista, claiming patent infringement and the misappropriation of trade secrets.

In the lawsuit filed in U.S. Federal Court in the Southern District of New York, DuPont is seeking an injunction, declaratory relief and unspecified damages relating to Invista's production of certain nylon 6,6 engineering resins. DuPont claims it had an agreement barring Invista from using DuPont technology to make those resins for several years.

DuPont Senior Vice President and General Counsel Thomas Sager says DuPont must protect its investment in the technology to continue to invest in the innovations expected by its engineering resins customers.

A representative of Invista was not available for comment Wednesday.
