Delta Faucet Cuts 45 Jobs

Company's plumbing fixtures plant in West Tennessee has laid off 45 workers as the housing downturn continues to drag down the economy.

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A plumbing fixtures plant in West Tennessee has laid off 45 workers as the housing downturn continues to drag down the economy.

The Jackson Sun reported the layoffs at Delta Faucet's plant -- Madison County's second-largest manufacturing employer.

Company spokeswoman Paula Warner confirmed the layoffs and said Delta is offering the affected workers financial assistance.

The plant will continue to employ about 565 workers.

About 80 percent of Delta's faucets are shipped from the company's distribution center in Jackson.

Warner said the housing market slump and a weak economy caused the layoffs.
