Yorozu Automotive To Close Plant

Company will close its Warren County facility in Mississippi due to a continuing decline sales of the Nissan and GM vehicles for which it supplies parts.

FLOWERS, Miss. (AP) -- Yorozu Automotive Mississippi will close its Warren County facility in mid-December.

Vice president of operations John Lanier cited a continuing decline sales of the vehicles for which it supplies parts.

The plant produces suspension parts for the Titan, Armada and Quest models for Nissan in Canton, Mississippi, as well as the Chevrolet Colorado and Canyon pickups for General Motors' plant in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Lanier says both plants have reduced production.

Yorozu, which opened in 2003, laid off 36 workers in July. It now has 73 workers.

Lanier says production will be moved to the company's operation in Morrison, Tennessee. Lanier says the displaced workers at Flowers will be given the option of moving to the Tennessee plant or to company's Battle Creek, Michigan, facility.
