HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- David Hess, president of aerospace manufacturer Hamilton Sundstrand, will succeed the retiring Stephen Finger as president of jet engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney, parent company United Technologies Corp. announced Monday.
Alain Bellemare, president of Pratt & Whitney Canada and executive vice president for Pratt & Whitney Group Strategy & Development, will succeed Hess at Hamilton Sundstrand.
John Saabas, 48, executive vice president at Pratt & Whitney Canada, will succeed Bellemare as president.
Finger, 59, is retiring Jan. 1 after 38 years at United Technologies, most of it at Pratt & Whitney. As president, he oversaw the launch of Pratt & Whitney's geared turbofan engines and led Pratt & Whitney's military engines business.
From 2003 to 2006, he was president of United Technologies' Sikorsky Aircraft unit.
Hess, 53, has headed Hamilton Sundstrand since 2005. During his tenure, the company won systems contracts for the Boeing 787, Airbus A380, Joint Strike Fighter, Embraer regional jets, Mitsubishi regional jet aircraft and Sikorsky's CH-53K helicopter.
Shares of Hartford-based United Technologies rose 20 cents to $50.91 in morning trading.
