Austrian auto parts manufacturer says it plans to move 2,600 employees to part-time status on a temporary basis to cope with the flagging economy.

VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Austrian auto parts manufacturer Magna Steyr says it plans to move 2,600 employees to part-time status on a temporary basis to cope with the flagging economy.

Magna Steyr, one of the country's biggest employers, says the employees will work reduced shifts for five or six weeks starting next month.

The company said Monday that the move would affect workers at its plant in the southern Austrian city of Graz.
