ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- The Eastman Kodak Co., transformed from a maker of photographic film into a seller of digital cameras and digital photo products, said Tuesday it struck a licensing deal with Nokia Corp.
The cross-licensing deal between Rochester, N.Y.-based Kodak and Finland-based cell phone maker Nokia gives each company access to the other's intellectual property. The press release didn't outline which patents or areas where Kodak and Nokia plan to collaborate, but did say Nokia will pay Kodak royalties under the terms of the agreement.
Nokia is the world's No. 1 maker of cell phones.
Kodak already has a deal with Motorola Inc., a Nokia competitor, to develop camera phones featuring some Kodak technology. The 10-year-deal, announced two years ago, also helps the companies make Motorola's phones work better with Kodak's home printers and retail kiosks for printing photos.
