Jayco Lays Off 40 At Idaho Facility

Recreational trailer maker has laid off about 40 workers from its production facility in Twin Falls, Idaho, in effort to scale back as a result of downturn in the national economy.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Jayco Inc. has laid off about 40 workers from its production facility in Twin Falls.

Workers were informed of the cuts Monday.

Former workers told the Times-News the reduction is part of the company's efforts to scale back production brought on by the downturn in the national economy.

Pat Dunne, one of the employees laid off this week, says many of his fellow employees understood the threat of layoffs. Dunne believes the company is being fair and had to do something to respond to the souring economic conditions. He also said the company offered a two-week severance package to workers targeted in the job cuts.

The facility is responsible for making recreational trailers, and before Monday's cuts employed about 200 workers.
