GM Building New Crossover At Tennessee Plant

Automaker launching its new Chevrolet Traverse from its Spring Hill assembly plant, hoping the eight-passenger crossover will attract buyers who have shied from SUVs.

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) -- General Motors Corp. launches its new Chevrolet Traverse from its Spring Hill assembly plant today.

The automaker hopes the new eight-passenger crossover will attract buyers who have shied from SUVs.

The Traverse also marks a new beginning for the plant that built the GM's Saturn brand until March 2007. The majority of the facility's workers were furloughed will the plant was updated and retooled for the new model this year.

The plant located about 30 miles south of Nashville.
