GM Announces 2010 Chevy Camaro Pricing

Chevrolet said Monday it is pricing its 2010 Camaro sports car starting at $22,995 for its V-6 model, and $30,995 for its V-8 model.

DETROIT (AP) -- Chevrolet said Monday it is pricing its 2010 Camaro sports car starting at $22,995 for its V-6 model, and $30,995 for its V-8 model.

Chevrolet, a unit of General Motors Corp., also began taking orders for the new Camaro on Monday, with production scheduled to start in mid-February next year at GM's factory at Oshawa, Ontario. Both the V-6 and V-8 models are estimated to get 27 miles per gallon on the highway, the company said.

GM first unveiled the new Camaro in July, but has been saying since 2006 it planned to release an updated version of the iconic sports car.

Shares of GM gained 86 cents, or 17.6 percent, to $5.75 in premarket electronic trading amid reports over the weekend the automaker had explored the possibility of a combination with Chrysler LLC and, earlier, Ford Motor Co.
