MACON, Ga. (AP) -- A downturn in the automobile industry and the global economy will delay construction of the Kumno Tire plant in south Bibb County.
Chamber of Commerce President Chip Cherry said, "The building of the plant is not in question. It's just the timing."
The plant was scheduled to open in late 2009.
Cherry said the plant is scheduled to produce 2.1 million tires annually at first, then rise to 3.1 million per year.
