PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) -- A chemical manufacturer is planning a $250 million expansion at its Port Allen plant.

Criterion Catalysts & Technologies will get $1.2 million in state assistance.

The expansion will allow Criterion to manufacture several types of alumina powder.

The state and Criterion say the expansion will create at least 53 permanent jobs with an average annual salary of $59,000.
