Coca-Cola To Conserve Water, Reduce Emissions

World's biggest beverage maker set new goals in a partnership with the World Wildlife Fund to save water and reduce carbon emissions in its manufacturing operations.

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Coca-Cola Co., the world's biggest beverage maker, said Thursday it had set new goals under a partnership with the World Wildlife Fund to save water and reduce carbon emissions in its manufacturing operations.

Coke said it would save about 13.2 billion gallons, or 20 percent more water, by 2012 over what it used in 2004.

It also will reduce its carbon emissions 5 percent in developed countries by 2015 over 2004.

The Atlanta-based company also said it would work with the conservation group on supply chain sustainability and freshwater conservation.
