Champion Aerospace Expanding S.C. Plant

Aviation parts manufacturer is expanding its Pickens County plant that makes spark plugs, oil filters and aviation engine parts, and adding up to 45 new jobs.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Officials say Champion Aerospace is expanding its Pickens County plant and adding up to 45 new jobs.

Commerce and company officials said Tuesday the aviation parts manufacturer will expand its Liberty plant and begin hiring immediately. The plant makes spark plugs, oil filters and aviation engine parts.

Champion Aerospace is a subsidiary of TransDigm Group Inc. Officials credited the expansion to TransDigm's acquisition last month to some assets of Unison Industries, a subsidiary of General Electric.

The Greenville News reports the jobs will pay around $16 an hour.
