Bridgestone Forms New Americas Unit

World’s largest tire and rubber company is creating a new entity called Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations to oversee business in North and South America.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Bridgestone Corp. is creating a new entity called Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations to oversee business in North and South America.

Asahiko "Duke" Nishiyama was named Tuesday as the head of the new unit that will be based in Nashville. Nishiyama will continue to report to Mark A. Emkes, chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas Inc.

The changes take effect Jan. 1.

Bridgestone is the world's largest tire and rubber company.
