JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) --An Atlanta-based company that delivers vehicles from manufacturers to dealers will close its Janesville plant Dec. 23, the same day General Motors Corp. will end SUV production in the area.
Allied Automotive Group told the state Department of Workforce Development on Monday its closure will result in the layoff of 117 workers.
Earlier this month another three GM suppliers announced layoffs, also effective Dec. 23.
Lear Corp., which supplies interiors and seating systems, will idle about 370 workers. Flint Services and LSI, which stage materials for the GM assembly line, will lay off about 190 workers combined.
GM said its decision to stop making SUVs in Janesville would leave about 1,200 of its employees out of work.
