AGCO Expanding Kansas Plants

Maker of Sunflower brand of drills and tillage equipment will expand its plants in Beloit and Cawker City, adding 50 jobs.

BELOIT, Kan. (AP) -- AGCO will expand its plants in Beloit and Cawker City, adding 50 jobs.

The Duluth, Ga.-based company makes the Sunflower brand of drills and tillage equipment at those plants. Construction has begun on a 24,000-square-foot building in Beloit.

Sunflower product marketing manager Tom Draper says AGCO has seen a 39 percent increase in production from the Beloit and Cawker City plants in the last two years. He says that with AGCO's multi-million-dollar investment in the two factories, capacity will grow 30 percent.

The new building in Beloit will house the tool and die and engineering services departments, freeing up space for robotic frame-welding cells. The Cawker City plant will expand for more assembly capacity for a line of drills.
