Rising Costs Force Chemtura To Increase Prices

Chemtura Corp., buffeted by rising costs of raw materials, energy and transportation, is again increasing prices.

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (AP) -- Chemtura Corp., buffeted by rising costs of raw materials, energy and transportation, is again increasing prices.

The manufacturer of consumer and crop protection products and polymer additives including flame retardants announced Tuesday that in response to significant inflation, it will increase the price of the flame retardants DE-83R and Firemaster 2100 up to 15 percent.

The price increase will be effective for shipments after Sept. 15 or as contracts allow.

Chemtura also said it will drop extended price protection.

In addition, Chemtura announced that prices for a polyurethane product will be increased by 15 percent as of Oct. 1 or as contracts allow.

Chemtura has announced several price increases this summer, citing cost inflation in manufacturing operations.
