BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (AP) -- A West Virginia company that builds pieces of an unmanned, $30 million surveillance aircraft for Northrop Grumman will soon hire 50 people as it doubles production.
Aurora Flight Sciences makes the V-tail and other composite parts of the Global Hawk. The plane is used to monitor hurricanes and forest fires. It's also being used by U.S. troops overseas.
Aurora currently builds parts for about five planes a year but will soon double production and eventually triple it.
Kristine Miller, Aurora's vice president of business operations, says the growth is good for the company and for north-central West Virginia.
She says the plant probably won't have to expand, but it might need more equipment and add shifts.
