Kellogg Buys Australian Cereal Company

Cereal and snack maker says it has acquired Specialty Cereals Pty. Ltd., a privately owned manufacturer of natural ready-to-eat cereals based in Sydney, Australia.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) -- Cereal and snack maker Kellogg Co. says it has acquired Specialty Cereals Pty. Ltd., a privately owned manufacturer of natural ready-to-eat cereals based in Sydney, Australia.

Kellogg didn't disclose financial terms in Thursday's announcement.

But the Battle Creek-based company says with Specialty Cereals' annual net sales of about $17 million, the deal isn't expected to affect Kellogg's 2008 operating profit.

The acquisition adds a small factory to Kellogg's Australian manufacturing network.

Specialty Cereals has been a making and packaging products for Kellogg for 20 years.

Kellogg's brands include Rice Krispies cereal, Eggo frozen waffles and Keebler cookies.
