BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) -- Food maker Kellogg Co. said Wednesday it has acquired the assets of IndyBake Products LLC and Brownie Products Co., a contract snack manufacturing business.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Kellogg said IndyBake and Brownie, which make cracker, cookie and frozen dough products, have two manufacturing facilities in Seelyville, Ind., and Gardner, Ill. The plants will be integrated into Kellogg's U.S. Snacks operation.
IndyBake and Brownie had combined revenue of $50 million in 2007, according to Kellogg.
"Expanding our business is a key element of Kellogg's business strategy and commitment to driving sustainable growth," David Mackay, Kellogg's president and chief executive, said in a statement. "This acquisition will help us expand our capacity to manufacture existing and proprietary snacks products as well as enable new product innovations."
IndyBake and Brownie have worked with Kellogg for many years as a snacks contract manufacturer.
About 150 IndyBake and Brownie employees joined Kellogg when the deal closed.
Shares of Kellogg slipped 83 cents to $54.55 in afternoon trading.
