Airbus Receives $756M Order From CIT

CIT Aerospace, a unit of financials services firm CIT Group, ordered 10 new aircraft worth roughly $756 million at current list prices.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Financial services firm CIT Group Inc. said Thursday it has exercised its option with Airbus for 10 new aircraft worth roughly $756 million at current list prices.

The order was made on behalf of CIT Aerospace, a unit of CIT. It includes eight A320s and two A319s.

The aircraft are scheduled to begin delivery in 2012. CIT said the order will help it meet customer demand for younger, more fuel efficient aircraft.

CIT owns or manages a fleet of more than 300 commercial aircraft that it leases and finances to airlines worldwide.

Shares of the company shed 1 cent to $10.72 in morning trading.
