U.S. Steel Reaches Tentative Agreement

Company reached an agreement with the United Steelworkers on a new four-year contract covering about 16,000 union workers.

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- United States Steel Corp. said Tuesday it reached a tentative agreement with the United Steelworkers on a new four-year labor contract.

The contract will cover about 16,000 United Steelworkers at U.S. Steel's domestic flat-rolled and iron ore mining plants, as well as tubular operations in Lorain, Ohio, and Fairfield, Ala., the company said.

The tentative agreement will replace the contract expiring Sept. 1, and remains subject to ratification by the United Steelworkers.

Shares fell 10 cents to $128.36 during midday trading.
