BETHESDA, Md. (AP) -- Sucampo Pharmaceuticals Inc. said late Friday Chief Financial Officer Mariam E. Morris resigned, effective Aug. 1 and Chief Accounting Officer Jan Smilek will serve as acting finance chief.
The company did not provide a reason for the resignation, but said Morris will serve as a part-time consultant to the company during the management transition.
Smilek has been with Sucampo since February, starting as vice president of finance and corporate controller.
Shares of Sucampo closed at $11.86 Friday.
