Regulators Approve Kenwood, JVC Deal

European Union regulators approved a deal between Japanese electronics companies JVC and Kenwood, saying the combination will not impede competition in European markets.

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) -- European Union regulators Wednesday approved a deal between Japanese electronics companies JVC and Kenwood, saying the combination will not impede competition in European markets.

JVC, officially called Victor Co. of Japan, and Kenwood Corp. announced in May that they had agreed to combine operations under a holding company that will focus on car and home audio electronics.

In a statement the European Commission said that overlaps between the combined companies were limited and the new company, JVC Kenwood Holdings, would face significant competition in European markets.
