TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. said Tuesday it has acquired an entire stake in Interpharma Praha, a.s., a Czech drug maker strong in pharmaceutical ingredients and nutrition products, from its shareholder Interpharma West Inc.
Interpharma Praha has thus become Otsuka's first base for research, development and production of pharmaceutical ingredients and nutrition products in Eastern Europe.
Otsuka, which would not specify the price it has paid for the Czech firm, said it plans to take advantage of its marketing capacity to globally sell products of Interpharma Praha that employs some 100 workers with annual sales exceeding 1 billion yen.
