Mack Trucks Moving Headquarters To North Carolina

Heavy-duty truck maker to bring nearly 500 jobs and invest $18 million in North Carolina as it moves its headquarters from Allentown, Pa., to Greensboro.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Heavy-duty truck maker Mack Trucks Inc. plans to bring nearly 500 jobs and invest almost $18 million in North Carolina as it moves its headquarters to Greensboro.

The company expects the project to take about three years as it moves from Allentown, Pa. The move allows Mack Trucks to join fellow Volvo Group subsidiary Volvo Trucks North America in Greensboro. Sweden-based Volvo Group is the second-largest producer of heavy-trucks.

The relocation will include support jobs such as information technology, parts logistics and purchasing for both companies.

The state is providing a Job Development Investment Grant that could provide Mack Trucks $8.5 million in benefits if it creates its 493 promised jobs and sustains them for nine years.
