Kentucky Ford Plant Keeping All Shifts

Automaker says it is keeping all three shifts of body and paint workers at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, saving 230 workers from potential layoffs.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A Ford Motor Co. spokeswoman says the company is keeping all three shifts of body and paint workers at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville.

The Courier-Journal reports Thursday's decision means 230 jobs on the line have been spared.

Company spokeswoman Angie Kozleski tells the newspaper Ford reversed plans to shut down one shift at the truck plant and instead will keep all three shifts employed as it prepares to move production of the Lincoln Navigator and Expedition large SUVs from Michigan to Louisville.

The move is to take place later this year.

Ford's Web site says the truck plant employs 3,625 members of United Auto Workers Local 862.
