DURHAM, N.C. (AP) -- The 2008 Hydrogen Road Tour is making two stops in North Carolina.

Hydrogen-powered cars from Nissan, Toyota, BMW and other manufacturers will be displayed Friday afternoon in front of the Chapel Quad at Duke University. The tour then makes a stop Saturday morning at Grigg Hall at UNC Charlotte.

The two-week tour is making 31 stops in 18 states. Sponsors include the U.S. Transportation Department and the National Hydrogen Association.

Organizers say hydrogen vehicles and fueling technologies are getting closer to being available commercially. And Duke is among the places where research continues on making hydrogen a feasible source of fuel.
