CINCINNATI (AP) -- General Electric Co.'s aircraft engine business has selected the Cincinnati suburb of West Chester Township for a $55 million project to consolidate some local operations and hundreds of jobs.
GE Aviation plans to bring together 1,400 employees from its Springdale and West Chester operations on the property of an old sports complex. Eventually, the company wants to grow the campus from two buildings to four.
West Chester offered the incentive of a tax abatement estimated to save GE about $200,000 a year.
Township officials say the project also will ease the tax burden on residents. On Tuesday, West Chester Township trustees announced plans to create a special taxing district that they said could generate an extra $1 million in revenue.
