Boeing Gets Orders For 26 More 737s From American

New orders by American Airlines for 26 Boeing 737-800 aircraft are worth $1.9 million at list prices and are part of the airline’s fleet renewal plan announced a day earlier.

SEATTLE (AP) -- The Boeing Co. has announced new orders by American Airlines for 26 737-800 aircraft.

The single-aisle planes are worth $1.9 million at list prices, although airlines typically negotiated substantial discounts on large orders. Twenty of the planes represent exercised options and six were not covered in previous deals. None had been logged on Boeing's Web site before Thursday.

The orders come a day after American announced a fleet renewal plan that includes earlier delivery of some planes that had been ordered in the past. Part of that deal is to move up the delivery of six 737-800s to 2010 as American replaces its aging and less efficient MD-80s.
