FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- General Electric Co. named John Dineen President and Chief Executive of its Healthcare business Thursday, after the unit's previous leader accepted a post with electrical engineering company ABB Ltd.
Dineen had been President and CEO of General Electric's smaller Transportation business. He will be replaced by Lorenzo Simonelli. Dineen, 45, has also worked in GE's Advanced Materials and Power Equipment businesses in 22 years with the company.
Early Thursday, ABB said Joseph Hogan, 51, agreed to become its CEO effective Sept. 1. The company is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
London-based GE Healthcare makes medical imaging and diagnostic products including MRI and X-ray machines. General Electric said GE Healthcare is a $17 billion business, compared to $4.5 billion for GE Transportation.
Simonelli, 35, currently works for GE Consumer & Industrial as president and CEO of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
In premarket electronic trading General Electric shares added 22 cents to $27.88. The stock finished at $27.68 Wednesday.
