OXFORD, Miss. (AP) -- Caterpillar Inc. has rebuilt a Mississippi plant that makes parts for the company's machinery less than six months after the facility was struck by a tornado.
The Oxford, Miss., facility was severely damaged by a tornado that tore through the region in February. Two employees suffered minor injuries.
The company held a ceremony Saturday to rededicate the hose coupling plant, which resumed limited production less than two weeks after the tornado. It is expected to resume full production by the end of the year.
In a statement, Caterpillar of Peoria, Ill., said the tornado damage had not caused production delays at other facilities, as initially expected.
Couplings made at the facility are sent to dozens of other Caterpillar plants worldwide and are used in all of the company's machines.
Shares of Caterpillar fell 81 cents to $69.67 in morning trading Monday.
