BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) -- The Delphi Packard Electric Systems plant in Brookhaven is eliminating one of its three work shifts at the end of this month.
The number of jobs being lost was not immediately available. The plant has about 440 workers.
Delphi communications director Rachelle Valdez says the scheduled closing of four General Motors Corp. truck and sport utility vehicle assembly plants has caused work force reductions at all Delphi centers.
Valdez says Delphi makes bus electrical systems for the GMT 900 series truck, one of the GM vehicles scheduled for cuts in production. Consumer demand has fallen as gas prices have increased.
